What is the Journey Toward Step 6?

I'm moving to DC tomorrow.

This is a big step for Jacob and I. We knew we wouldn't live in small town USA for very long; two to three more years tops. A month after we got married on one of our daily afternoon walks, Jacob excitedly told me he wanted to move as soon as possible. He knew living in our town was not ideal for me socially or career-wise. I had moved here to marry him. Jacob said he was tired of seeing me so unhappy as I applied to job after job without success. He also told me his job had not been stimulating for months and it was time for Jacob to make a career change. It was time for us to move on.

I was shocked. I had mentally prepared myself for a much longer stint in this area. There were parts of living in small town USA I knew I would miss. My family lives very close by so hanging out with them is amazing. But, this place did not have the room or opportunity to help me grow personally. The very best thing for us was to move to a larger city with far greater opportunities and advancement.

Our blog is about Jacob and my journey toward life/career goals as a newly married couple moving to the big city. Below is a brief summary of our goals and then steps to make our goals a reality.

The Plan:

Jacob and I would apply for jobs in Washington DC and move there to maximize our potential career/life goals.

The Steps:

1) Get Married (Check!)
2)  Savannah gets a job in DC, moves and finds an apartment
3) Jacob gets a job in DC and moves into Savannah's apartment
4) Sell our house in small town USA
5) We both stay within a budget to pay off any debts
6) We both push ourselves individually to reach greater career advancement and save money for the future
